Process Overview
When the User does one of the following:
- Sets the client's "Activity Status" to 'DECD' for 'Deceased' using U0203 Lessee/API or U0217 Guarantor/API
- Uses U0240 Credit Bureau Client/API to remove a client from the account with the "Reason Code" 'DECD' for 'Deceased'
U0462 Credit Bureau Extract will check if the client is deceased when it creates RXL and RXC records for an account. If any client attached to the lease is deceased, U0462 will check if the death has been reported yet for the applicable lease and, if not, report it with ECOA set to X. Otherwise the client will be skipped, as it should no longer be reported.
If the only client on the lease has been reported as deceased, U0462 will cease reporting (stop creating RXL/RXC records) on that account.
LeasePak User Process
To indicate that a client is deceased, do one of the following:
- Use interactive U0203 Lessee (for lessees and co-lessees), interactive U0217 Guarantor, or third-party interface via API to set "Activity Status" to 'DECD'
- Use interactive U0240 Credit Bureau Client or third-party interface via API to remove a deceased client:
- From the "Relationships" list, select the deceased client
- Click Drop Relationship to detach the client
- The Reason Deleted window will require selecting a reason for detaching the client; select 'DECD' for Deceased and click Save
- Click Save to complete the update
Additional Notes:
- Although either option will trigger credit bureau reporting for a deceased client, setting the "Activity Status" to 'DECD' will provide the most complete indicator on the client record, which may be necessary for other types of reporting
- Whenever a client is detached from a lease, any CII for that client/lease relationship is lost. If the client is later reattached, the User must update the CII accordingly through U0241 Client Bureau Bankruptcy/API
