Introduction

The Federal Highway Use Tax update [U0714] is used to change the rate table for FHUT, which is a federal tax imposed on certain trucks, truck tractors, and buses. The tax rate table is structured according to a schedule published by the Internal Revenue Service, using a category of truck or bus and its weight to determine the amount of the tax.

The FHUT file is set up during the initial LeasePak setup; it should be modified only when changes in tax rates occur.

This screen is used to select the Federal Highway Use Tax update [U0714] option. Vehicle descriptions as set by the IRS which correspond to categories already on the table are listed. To add a new code, click on Add.

To change or delete a code, highlight a description and click on Change or Delete.

    Adds a new category and its monthly tax rates.

    Changes the monthly tax rates for a category.
    
    
  • DELETE
    Removes a category and its monthly tax rates.

 

Add/Change Federal Highway Use Tax

This screen is used to enter the monthly federal highway use tax rates for the selected tax category.

Field Descriptions

• TAX RATES
  Enter the tax rates for the appropriate months.

 

Delete Federal Highway Use Tax

This screen is used to delete a federal highway use tax category. The monthly tax rates for the category selected

description and code selected are displayed and should be verified as the correct ones to delete.

Field Descriptions

• DELETE FEDERAL HIGHWAY USE TAX: (code) (description)
  Click on Yes to delete the federal highway use tax category and all rates associated with it.
