Sun Solaris, Oracle DBMS

Lists system requirements for installing the LeasePak server and client on Sun Solaris using Oracle DBMS.

Server Requirements

Server Hardware

See next section for disk space requirements.

  • Machine: For large-scale installations, Sun Enterprise 450 or higher; for small-scale installations, Sun Fire V120.
  • Memory:
  • Network Card: Ethernet, token ring, etc.
  • CD-ROM: NetSol recommends that the server include a local CD-ROM drive for installing the LeasePak server software. Using a drive accessible over a network may convert portions of the various installation directory paths to lowercase, causing the installation to fail.

Additional Requirements

Terminal Emulation

LeasePak queue manager DCL commands (job and print queue management), as well as lease/util utilities, require one of the following terminal emulations:

Compatible Terminal Emulations

Type Example
VT1xx DEC VT100
VT2xx DEC VT200
VT3xx DEC VT300
VT4xx DEC VT400
ANSI SCO ANSI Console
AT386 Unix 5.4 Console
WY60 Wyse 60
XTERM X Terminals

NetSol recommends terminal emulators capable of displaying 132 columns for best results and prefers the use of VT type terminals. Set the TERM environment variable to one of the above terminal types before using LeasePak queue manager DCL commands or LeasePak utilities (lpautil.exe). Use echo $TERM to verify the terminal type.

On most telnet sessions, the default terminal emulator is sun.

Remote Client

If you have employees using LeasePak or mPower remotely, or you wish for NetSol representatives to connect to your server, you will need a fast, secure connection between the remote client computer and the LeasePak or mPower server. For this purpose, NetSol recommends any of the following solutions:

Printers

For use with DocIT, LeasePak, or mPower, printers must be:

  • Accessible to the DocIT server, LeasePak client users, LeasePak server processes, and/or mPower client users by way of a network or direct connection.
