mPower Server: J2EE Platform

Lists system requirements for installing all mPower applications on the J2EE Platform.

Server Requirements


Server Hardware

See next section for disk space requirements.

  • Machine: Intel x86 computer (unless you are installing the mPower server on your LeasePak server machine).
  • Memory:

         - 512 MB RAM minimum.

         - 1024 MB or more recommended.

  • Network Card: Ethernet, token ring, etc. NetSol recommends having 2 cards; one for Internet communication and one for your internal network.
  • CD-ROM: Unless you have the operating system pre-installed or are installing the mPower server on your LeasePak server machine, you will need a CD-ROM drive on the mPower server computer to install the OS.

mPower Server Software

Breakdown of Channel IT and Serv IT Disk Space Requirements: Total 160 MB  

Size Purpose
150 MB J2EE program files
10 MB mPower program files

Server Operating System

Software:
  • Red Hat Release 4 (Kernel 2.6.x) 
  • Any other version of Linux or Unix that is compatible with one of the supported web server software installations (see below). Use this option if you are installing the mPower server on your LeasePak server machine.
Patches:

Install all critical patches and updates recommended for your operating system.

Additional Server Software

  • J2EE, version 1.4 SDK
  • mPower program files (from NetSol)
  • Install either Apache/Java/Tomcat (Java/Tomcat for LinkIT installations) or J2EE-- not both. Contact your NetSol representative for more information.

Client Requirements


Client Hardware

See next section for disk space requirements.

  • Machine: Any computer capable of running one of the supported web browsers
  • Memory:

         - Sufficient memory to run one of the supported web browsers; refer to the requirments for your computer

  • Display: minimum SVGA or equivalent, resolution 1024 x 768 or higher
  • Network Card: ethernet, token ring, etc.
  • CD-ROM: (Optional) to access software for installation. You can also place files in an accessible network location.

Client Operating System


Software:

Any operating system capable of running one of the supported web browsers.

Patches:

Install all critical service packs, patches, and updates for your operating system.

Client Software

LeasePak supports all installation options for Microsoft Office 97 through Office 2000.

Client Web Browser

Web browsers must have client-side JavaScript enabled.

LeasePak requires one of the following Web browsers:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or later
  • Netscape Navigator 7.0 or later (NetSol recommends version 8.0)

The browser must also include the following:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or later

Web browsers must have client-side JavaScript enabled.

Additional Requirements


Remote Client

If you have employees using LeasePak or mPower remotely, or you wish for NetSol representatives to connect to your server, you will need a fast, secure connection between the remote client computer and the LeasePak or mPower server. For this purpose, NetSol recommends any of the following solutions:

Printers

For use with DocIT, LeasePak, or mPower, printers must be:

  • Accessible to the DocIT server, LeasePak client users, LeasePak server processes, and/or mPower client users by way of a network or direct connection.
  • Capable of printing 132 columns (equivalent to 132 monospaced characters and/or spaces) in landscape mode.
  • Able to print Adobe Acrobat PDF and Microsoft Word documents.
  • (Optional) capable of color printing for HTML-type reports or other multicolor documents. .
